Arise, Go to Work, and Shine

A friend shared this sermon with me today. I think it's a great complement to the last post, so I'm sharing! Please take the time and listen.

There are lots of minutes in the day to steal time for something important…while getting ready in the morning or at bedtime, while driving, while exercising. You won't regret it.

A Call to the Church

I haven't been on this blog for over a year. But since the SCOTUS ruling on Friday ordering all states to recognize homosexual marriage, my mind has been reeling with questions, thoughts, wonders. Too much to contain, so I must write to process. Even if no one reads, it's a journal of sorts, therapy for me.

Funny that the first thing I saw when I returned here was a draft post I had started 16 months ago. It was a call to the Church. I never published it. And now, it seems needed more than ever.

This post isn't for the world. It's not for those who do not know Jesus Christ because it will not make sense to you, for "a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised" (1 Corinthians 2:14).

So, before I get going with what brought me back here, I'll begin with a challenge to the Church and finally publish this post. Are you up for it?

February 2014

Jesus commanded His people to "occupy" until His return (Luke 19:13). I encourage you to study that word. Research it in the 1828 Dictionary, then do a concordance search of its key words "possess" and "possession" in Scripture.

You will find that it is very important to God that HIS people, not the pagans, possess the land.

Ponder that. Why would He create the nations only to have them ruled by the ungodly? How could that be His will or serve His purpose?

His desire is for all to know Him (1 Timothy 2:4). And through godly leadership and government, His name is made known and known to be great.

I've heard all sorts of excuses why believers stay out of government:
Politics is dirty.
God doesn't really care about nations, so neither should we.
We should spend our time evangelizing only. (Really? You're going to use that one? And just how many hours a day do you evangelize?)
But the biggest one by far is…I'm just too busy.

There is not one area of life that God does not touch and where His principles do not apply. He owns it all. It's all His.

God is the Creator of government. He assigned specific purposes to it: punish evil and condone good (Romans 13:3). He gave us instructions for choosing leaders. He gave them directions for how to lead.

The word "nation" appears 145 times in the King James Bible. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"(Psalm 33:12). He determined when we would dwell in the nation in which He planted us! (Acts 17:26) Does it sound like He doesn't care about nations?

If politics is dirty, it's because the "salt and light" abandoned it to the world. Like all of God's gifts to man, we were meant to be a good steward of our nation and its government.

What will you do to change our nation's course? What nation will you leave to your generations?

Bless God today and every day.
